Service Offerings at American Heat Treating Alabama

At American Heat Treating Alabama (AHT), located in Anniston, we specialize in a comprehensive range of thermal processes for ferrous metals, particularly focusing on Ductile Iron and Alloy steels. Our expertise in Austempering and other advanced heat treating services ensures top-quality results for every application.

Our Anniston, Alabama location specializes in Austempering of ductile iron and steel. We also provide many other thermal processes and light assembly: (See Below)

Age (Precipitation) Hardening

A thermal process that aids in the creation of a second phase with a differing crystal structure from the primary phase in a metal part (stainless steel, copper, aluminum, and titanium alloys). This second phase modifies the microstructure of the part, increasing hardness and strength.

Annealing

We perform annealing to soften materials, facilitating easier machining. This process is essential for preparing metal parts for further manufacturing steps, ensuring they meet the rigorous standards of Southeast heat treating markets.

Aus-Carburizing

Combining carburizing and Austempering, this process results in a product with high surface compression, making it perfect for high-load applications like gears and shafts. It enhances both the toughness and wear resistance of the part.

Austemper

This standout process rapidly cools parts to just above the martensite start temperature, holding them there to minimize distortion. Austempered steel and iron display significantly enhanced toughness and 15% higher fatigue strength than quenched and tempered counterparts, eliminating the need for subsequent tempering.

Martemper

Our martempering process cools ferrous materials to an elevated temperature, allowing the entire part to equalize before completing the martensitic transformation. This technique is ideal for creating uniformly hardened steel and iron components in the demanding industrial landscape.

Normalizing

Our normalizing process creates microstructural uniformity and relieves internal stresses, essential for maintaining the integrity of high-performance parts in sectors served by Alabama heat treating.

Stress Relieving

By heating parts to a specific temperature and maintaining it long enough, we effectively reduce or eliminate residual stresses induced by previous manufacturing processes like welding or machining.

Tempering

Employed to reduce hardness and increase toughness, our tempering process is a crucial step in the production of durable, reliable metal components, particularly for applications requiring a balance of strength and ductility.
